Strength  ·  Integrity  ·  Excellence

Counsel for the consequential.

We represent founders, families and institutions in matters where the outcome defines the decade. Partner-led, privately held, and loyal to one standard — the one that wins.

01 / The Firm

Twenty years of saying no
to the wrong matters, so we could say yes to the right ones.

Fortis Legal was founded on a simple idea: a small room of senior lawyers, accountable to one another and to the client, outperforms a pyramid every time. Two decades later, that conviction still shapes how we work.

We are partner-led from the first call. We write our own briefs. We walk into court prepared, and we leave boardrooms with answers — not invoices. Our clients return, often. We work every day to deserve that.

— Philosophy

Three beliefs
that govern the work.

  1. i.

    Independence

We answer to our clients and to one another. We have refused mergers, outside capital, and the kinds of referral relationships that quietly corrode judgement. Our advice is ours alone.

  2. ii.

    Accountability

A partner signs every brief we file and every invoice we send. If the strategy is wrong, a name is on it. That is how the work stays honest.

  3. iii.

    Craft

We still write by hand before we type. We still read the record twice. The shortest path to a clever argument is a long walk through a careful one.

02 / Practice

Eight practices.
One standard of care.

Each practice is led by a partner with no fewer than fifteen years on the matter at hand — no handoffs, no juniors drafting in the dark.

  1. 01

    Commercial Litigation

    Flagship

Complex disputes, interim relief, appellate advocacy. We try cases — we do not settle them out of fear.

  2. 02

    Corporate & M&A

Founder-side transactions, venture rounds, cross-border acquisitions and the quiet work that makes them hold.

  3. 03

    Tax & Regulatory

Advisory for structures that need to hold up under audit and scrutiny — because the right answer is the one that survives the second reading.

  4. 04

    Private Wealth

Family governance, succession, trusts and the discreet advisory that keeps a generation's work intact for the next.

  5. 05

    White-Collar Defense

Internal investigations, regulatory inquiries and the defense of executives and institutions under pressure.

  6. 06

    Real Estate & Infrastructure

Land assembly, development disputes, public-private partnerships. Counsel that understands both the drawings and the deed.

  7. 07

    Employment

Executive exits, whistleblower matters and the kinds of workplace investigations that are finished quickly and quietly.

  8. 08

    Intellectual Property

Patent portfolios, brand enforcement and trade-secret litigation for firms whose value is in what they know, not what they own.

03 / Approach

A way of working
built to avoid surprises.

Every matter runs on a four-step cadence. You see the plan before you see an invoice. You see the draft before it is filed. Nothing surfaces on page fifteen that was not on page one.

  1. I.

    Private brief

A confidential, no-fee conversation with a partner. We listen, we read what you send, and we tell you — honestly — whether we are the right firm for the matter.

  2. II.

    Matter design

A written engagement plan: scope, strategy, fee structure, decision points. You approve it before we invoice a cent.

  3. III.

    Execution

A partner-led team runs the matter with weekly written updates and an open line — nights and weekends included, when the matter demands it.

  4. IV.

    Close & debrief

We close cleanly, hand over every document, and walk you through what we learned. Many clients return. We work to deserve that.

Testimonials

Life-changing matters ask for more than competence. Here is what our clients say when the work is done.

Caleb Ayensu Founder & CEO at Fintech Scale-up
Working with Fortis Legal was a remarkable experience. From the moment I reached out, their team demonstrated a profound level of professionalism and expertise. They guided me through the entire process with clarity and precision, and they walked into that courtroom having read every page of a ten-thousand-page record. We left with a decision that changed the course of our company.
